The Sword of Gideon:

God’s address to Gideon was to call him a "mighty warrior." God was showing Gideon what His mighty power is able to accomplish through a yielded vessel.

Conscious of his own weakness and the formidable task before him, Gideon is an ideal vehicle for God’s tremendous work of deliverance. This man is singled out in Hebrews 11 as a "hero of the faith," whose trust in God, not the arm of flesh, brought deliverance to Israel, and glory to God.
